On Friday March 26, 1971 David performed his first concert at the Seattle Center Arena, Seattle, WA at 8:30 p.m.
During his career David Cassidy played more than 600 concerts all over the world; in the USA, England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Japan and Hong Kong. David’s first concert was in Seattle on March 26th, 1971. His last concert was in New York, on March, 4th 2017.
David also entertained us with many other live performances. He gave mini concerts, solo or with his band on many TV programmes and in theatre productions.
David Cassidy was a brilliant live performer. From that very first concert which he played 50 years ago for thousands of screaming fans he always gave 100%. Many fans believe that a lot of songs he performed live were better than studio recordings. David wanted to be connected with his audience, give and take, to share experience, excitement, joy and love. It wasn’t only for money, there was much more, something that even people who never saw him in concert can experience too, when they watch the videos.
David rarely cancelled his concerts; sometimes performing with flu, with a surgical belt after gall-bladder operation, and played the guitar when he shouldn’t because of arthritis. His concerts were full of energy, uplifting, unforgettable experiences for those lucky ones who saw him live, in every decade.
The last song he ever performed live was “I Think I Love You”. As he left the stage he said ‘I don’t think, I know’. We always knew that, dear David.
Further images from David’s first concert: rehearsal, back stage and during the concert can be found in a June 1971 magazine article & a July 1971 magazine article on this website.
Hi. The world was never the same after this beautiful man charmed and captured our hearts forever! 💚💙💚💙
David Cassidy was a great live performer, in every decade, from his first concert to the last one , in March 2017..Always gave 100%..Those lucky ones who saw him live..
David Cassidy, mi inspiración musical, el mas grande.
Hola Tony, mine too.
Totally unique, there will never be any other Star like David who captured our heart souls and imagination….. He was a the heartbeat of a generation . Always loved and never ever forgotten. He was an enigma
I saw David at MSG and it was an amazing concert and I also saw him in Blood Brothers
And I had front row seats. David was a truly gifted performer and I miss him.
There will never be another like David in concert, always gave 100%, totally unique, saw him 3 times in concert will never forget them.
David was truly an amazing singer / performer. He always was hardworking .I went to see him in 1973 at Wembley .it was just fantastic to be there ,he had so much energy on stage .I love those jumpsuits he used to wear back in the day .my big regret is that I didn’t see him in more concerts and I would have loved to have seen him on stage eg Blood Brothers , I have seen clips of the show and David looked amazing doing what he loved so much . There will never be another performer like him .so sad he left us too soon .forever fan. Claudette ❤
What a career!! This man was a trooper during all his life. Six concerts for me and even got to meet him at his Pre-Birthday Party -London 2011- Amazing night and he was the nicest, funniest, lovely, gorgeous man in the world. He made me feel like the only woman in the room. Thank you David for the fantastic memories. I love you and you miss you so much 💝
Three times in Manchester twice at the Apollo but the one at Maine road Man City stadium in March 1974 was the one for me. Most of my mates liked David but didn’t like to admit it so l went on my own . I was working in the Moss Side area where the stadium was so it was pointless going home several miles. The atmosphere in the area was just like a major football match, l know l use to frequent Maine road regularly. There were souvenir sellers, hot dog stalls, ticket touts JUST like a football match. I bought fish and chips and ston on the corner watching hundreds and hundreds of delirious people approaching the stadium. I certainly wasn’t the only male there but l know that there were many who wanted to be. I’ve seen many top artist including Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, The Eagles but David Cassidy on that Tuesday night bettered them! His ‘ Cassidy Live’ captures the performance and atmosphere from similar concerts in 74 so when l want to relive them magic moments again that CD goes on. On my return home my mates quizzed me about the concert and l remember telling them how good it really was, they were sorry they didn’t go. Over the years l’ve lent the live CD out to friends of mine who regretted not going and they are amazed at at Davids performance, up there with any, any live album.
That’s the night that l became addicted to David Cassidy, the man with the golden voice, up there with the best of them.
Wow..Thank you John..That’s what I call a great story about watching DC live..I can feel that excitement..In August 2019 I was in London and we went to see DC’s bench in White City..and QPR’s stadium was near..and people were approaching the stadium,.. whole families..it was Sat. that was amazing..the atmosphere. (it’s not that we don’t have football in Poland)..but it was just incredible..I love ‘Cassidy Live!’ and envy you.
Thank you Weronika, Kazimierz Deyna a favourite of mine.
Love your story of going to David’s Manchester concert in 1974 and agree with you about it being like going to a football match, even thought i’ve never been to one of those, but i was at David’s White City concert in London and if felt like that and at Wembley in 1973. I love to listen to “Cassidy Live” too to relive that moment of the concert and so nice to know that there are male fans out there that like David’s music too.
May l just add l was lucky enough to also purchase the Japanese Live album on blue spec CD, sounds fantastic , ‘ Daydreamer’ awesome. I hope everybody is well out there and roll on summer.
Jane our web Queen, you are an absolute star! The words you wrote above are so lovely about DC’s first concert. You & all those that contribute to this site like Carmen etc., with magazine articles & the like, always reminding us of important dates in DC’s life. Seeing the pictures etc, it really is so bitter sweet, my heart is breaking all over again. That lovely, talented lad as I’m typing this my eyes are wet with tears. I just have to accept that as long as I live I will be upset, my love for that man will never die!! I came to this site today to wish DC & everyone firstly, a Happy Easter in advance. Most importantly dear David resting peacefully, a very Happy forthcoming 71st Birthday for next month. Fifty years since his first ever concert & that darling man 71, it’s astonishing! We all know that DC is not a 70’s idol (as the press wrongly seem to label him), but the 70’s is when the majority of us first knew of him. Reading Jane’s words & viewing all the articles etc., has brought it all back though, as if it were only yesterday. John, hi, hope you & yours are all continuing to be safe & well in these troubled times. That is a sentiment I wish for every one reading this around the world. After the tragedy of dear Bernadette at White City in 74 (where I saw DC for the 2nd out of 3 times). I remember that DC’s next concert date was at the Belle view (I think it was called then ) Manchester. It was all over the papers (I remember it well), the headlines ‘Manchester has locked up her daughters!’ Pictures of David leaving or entering the stadium disguised as a ST JOHNS AMBULANCE EMPLOYEE or something of that nature. I suppose the articles etc. will be on this site somewhere. John, was that one of the concerts you went to? If so, were there really a lot of empty seats? It’s so nice to read of your experiences of seeing DC & of being a fan. You male fans are really dedicated, who can forget Timmy’s exceptional labour of love broadcast of 12/4/2018 which I will forever treasure. Would love to visit Richard’s house in the States to view all his DC memorabilia. Also surprise, surprise Terry Hall of The Specials is a DC fan found this out a couple of years ago when he did an interview ON BBC 6 MUSIC . Weronika, Sandra & Lyn, I don’t buy newspapers or listen to the news even since long before DC passed because everything has been so depressing even more so now. But even in these troubled times I have to, to find out what’s happening regarding Covid. Unfortunately about a week ago switched on SKY news. Poland going into it’s 3rd lockdown Weronika. Sydney having the worst floods Sandra, & many having to evacuate. A few weeks before that hearing that Melbourne had to go into another lockdown. Sandra & Lyn hope you are alright, I know that you have friends & relatives in various parts of Australia. Hope they are all OK!
Araceli hope you are OK, you being in close proximity to Italy & France that have both gone into lockdown again recently.
Denice, Felicia, GG, Kelly & Betsy in the US of A, news from there is not to good either regarding Covid, the bad cold weather experienced in Texas……. It’s never ending!
Whatever you are experiencing we all feel for you. Things are not hunky dory here either. An advice that I’m passing on is vaccine or no vaccine, do continue to wear your face masks & social distance when out. Unfortunately Covid will take some time to disappear, hope it does & we are all still here.
Virtual hugs & kisses to you all. Special love to Barbara, Claudette & Judy A in the UK.
Keep Safe, have a happy Easter & will check in nearer DAVID’S BIRTHDAY.
Love to you David as always from your loving & devoted fans.
Hi Adeola, the Manchester concert that you refer to l’m sure was the Maine road one ( Manchester City FC)
It was a large stadium so only one side of the ground was opened called the main stand, seated it’s capacity was around 15000- it was packed. It was the night when he was disguised as an ambulance man, the uniform was too big and if his fans knew he was disguised as one it was obvious which one was David.
David also wore a Man City shirt that night to my delight as he did years later at the apollo Manchester, thank God 🙏 it wasn’t a red one, l don’t think l’d have felt the same., Cheer’s Adeola.
Hi Adeola ,so nice to hear from you .I hope you are keeping well .and wish you and all fans a Happy Easter take care of yourself too .love and hugs my friend .
Hi Adeola, nice to hear from you..Yes, it’s hard now, another lockdown,..again can’t see my daughters and grandsons..it will be another hard Easter.. but Im a lucky one, healthy and have a great garden and a forest near my house, I walk a lot, and have my blog about DC to write, his music to listen to…so it’s ok. Thank you for remembering..Big hug xxx
Hi Adeola & everyone. Adeola, thank you for your caring words! This site has helped me get through a lot. David’s music goes without saying, I will love him forever too, my beautiful, sweet, love. Stay safe everyone Happy Easter, God Bless! God bless you David, I love you! 💚💙💚💙
Hi everyone,
Loving the pictures of David’s first concert in Seattle 50 years ago, hard to believe it’s that long ago. He was almost 21, now his 71st birthday is approaching. I saw David once in concert in Sydney, in 1974, I was half way back in the crowd. It was an outdoor concert on a hot March afternoon, several times he said “push back” as the stage was in danger of collapsing and a few girls fainted. I’ll never forget how excited I was to be going to his concert and he was truly superb. As well as singing he played a drum solo and the piano. I loved him so much and still do and I always will. Yes, this beautiful and very talented man captured our hearts forever, and he was so energetic which is also what I thought when watching his 1985 concert at the Royal Albert Hall recently, he always gave his all. A great account John, of David’s March 1974 Manchester concert you went to. Best wishes to you Weronika and Araceli in Europe. I hope the lockdowns end for you soon. Yes the floods in New South Wales have been very bad but luckily where I live did not flood although it rained very heavily for several days. Hi Adeola, Claudette, Doreen, John in the UK and Denise, GG, Betsy in the US and also to Lyn in Queensland, Australia. I hope things improve soon for you all as far as the vaccine and lockdowns in your countries. As far as Covid in Australia we’ve had borders between states opening and closing at various times. From tomorrow masks will no longer be mandatory on public transport in Sydney, it’s been mandatory for last few months. In Victoria, where my daughter lives, the lockdowns have been more frequent. I wish all David’s fans a happy Easter. Love to you David always. Sandra, Australia.
Hi Sandra
Hoping soon we will be out of this soon and everything improves, i’ve had my 1st . It sounds like it is easing in your part of Australia, hope it stays that way for you. I find it helps me to cope with all this by listening to David’s music at some point during the day, remembering David.
Take care
Doreen
Hi Doreen, you’ve had your first vaccination? Vaccine isn’t available to me yet here. Hope you’re well and that things start to get better for everyone in the UK. Yes David’s music definitely helps you to cope with all the restrictions we have to bear with Covid. Best wishes to you. Sandra.
Hi Sandra
I have had my first vaccination, thanks. I’m very well thank you hope you are too. Hopefully you will get your vaccine soon and keep playing David’s music to help you cope.
Best Wishes Doreen
Hi to all… I also have had my first vaccination this week. A had a little fever but nothing serious. Hope everyone can get their and things go to normal really soon.

Happy Birthday Shirley Jones .such a talented lady .she has starred in several films such as “Oklahoma ” (1955) and ” Carousel (1956 ) she has also the most beautiful and amazing voice .
Happy Birthday to Shirley Jones. Shirley Jones was so nice to me and my mother back in the late 80’s. I will never forget what a wonderful time that evening was. What a nice memory. Shirley Jones is a very special lady.
I just learned something very interesting about Shirley Jones, I was at the grocery store waiting in line, as I glanced through the magazines, there was a picture of Shirley Jones, with a real, big lion in her lap. Shirley in 1965, was in the movie Fluffy. I can’t wait to see. Shirley had petted the lion and the lion really liked her. A beautiful story.
