January 9th, 2015 – Concert Review

David Cassidy and his Band at the State Theatre – An Eclectic Evening of Music

The 1970s came to life when David Cassidy and his band rocked the State Theatre January 9th.  After opening the show with “Come on Get Happy,” the theme to the Partridge Family, and “I Can Feel your Heartbeat,” David expressed his gratitude for his fans by proclaiming “I’m feeling the love, baby”. The audience was feeling the love too as they were screaming ecstatically when he appeared on stage.

“..he has character which is much more valuable”

I know David Cassidy has been getting some less than positive press lately about his finances. I wanted to share a short interaction I had with him that told me the kind of person he is when he wasn’t on stage.

About 20 plus years ago, I was a contestant on Win Lose or Draw.  David Cassidy was one of the celebrities on the show with us that week.

All the celebrities were polite and professional. We filmed 5 shows in one day so it was a very long day. Midway through filming, we had lunch set up in a side stage area. There were large white curtains dividing the contestants area from the celebrities area.

As we all sat down to lunch, David Cassidy came around the curtain and sat at one of our tables. He talked to us like an old friend. No other celebrity ventured to our side. It was a small gesture, but left a big impression on us. Everyone just thought “what a nice guy, he must be very genuine”.

I don’t remember much about that day other than I won some prizes and money and David Cassidy was a very friendly guy.

So maybe he isn’t the richest guy in Hollywood , but he has character which is much more valuable.

To my fans

I’m writing to let you know what’s new in my life.

I am going through bankruptcy proceedings at the moment. I wanted to let you know personally. This is necessary for practical reasons to reorganize my life as I go through divorce and to restructure my finances.

Teri Coté has decided to move onto other artistic work and will no longer be playing with me. Teri is a very fine artist. She is an extremely talented musician, a tremendous drummer! All of us in the band love her and have enjoyed working with her. I wish her every success in her future endeavors.

Craig J and I will begin recording new material in April. We will be recording a few songs that I love and that he loves. One song will be Night & Day, a Cole Porter song.

Finally, I wanted to say that I love Beau and miss him as he now lives on the other side of the country. I am very proud of him as a person. Beau is a tremendous human being, a very caring person. I’m not just being a biased parent, many people tell me that.

Happy Trails,

DC

A message from David

When David was told of the campaign, organised by a number of fans from around the world, to have him inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, he said:

Thank you, I appreciate your love and support for me.

They’ll NEVER let me into the R&R Hall of Fame. I’m too pop. So many TRULY GREAT pop artists will never be in. I’ve never cared about awards. It’s more gratifying to me that my fans love what I do.

On another note, my band and I have had an amazing time being daring and doing unusual materials that we’ve not ever done before. I think I’m going to continue to push the envelope a little more in my next few shows. We shall see.
