Hollywood - It was just a matter of time before David Cassidy emerged as a valid pop star. His latest album for Bell Records, "Cassidy Live!" captures this emergence.
Recorded during his sold-out concert tour of Great Britain, this LP is positive proof to the fact that Cassidy has what it takes to get down and make it in a concert. Although the recording itself isn't up to the standards of some other live albums released this year, such as "Marvin Gaye Live," it is still worth listening to. The song selection is varied yet Cassidy performs each with freshness and enthusiasm. He proves once again that he can interpret other writers' songs extremely well.
It's unfortunate that only one cut on "Live!" is a Cassidy original. In all, this is a very consistent and enjoyable album from an artist who is just beginning to find himself. Best cuts include: "It's Preying On My Mind," "Some Kind of Summer," "Delta Lady," "Please Please Me," and "How Can I Be Sure."
