One girl in a serious condition and 13 with minor injuries were taken to hospital last night after the crowd at a concert featuring David Cassidy surged forward and crushed dozens of girls against stage barriers at the White City Stadium, in London. Fourteen girls aged between 16 and 25 were taken to Hammersmith Hospital and dozens more were treated at the stadium by St John Ambulance men after fainting in the crush. The hospital said most of the girls taken there were hysterical, and suffering from minor cuts and bruises. Four were admitted and one of them was in the intensive care unit. Her heart had stopped at the stadium, and she had been resuscitated but was very seriously ill. Another had an injured hip, one was hysterical, and the fourth had suspected appendicitis. A girl at the concert, Dawn Loosley, aged 14, said later: "Everyone was put in the ambulances."
