When the Hip meet the Cool, egos can only get bruised.
The 40 guests invited to celebrate the end of Jonathan Ross's Last Resort series in Covent Garden expected the sort of red carpet treatment befitting workers on TV's smartest show.
But they reckoned without the vanity of the bouncers at Brown's Club. Luminaries such as David Cassidy, Paul Young and Rick Mayall were, of course, nodded through.
"But they wouldn't let us in," wails one of the aggrieved, "even though we actually worked on the show - they only let in their friends and any blondes they fancied".
"By the time we got in, the free drink had run out. I've never been to a party where so many people arrived so angry." Or angwy, as Jonathan would say?
