NEW YORK (AP) - David Cassidy, the one-time teen singing idol on "The Partridge Family," has been trying for some 20 years to out that image behind him. Now, he says, he finds himself defending the show from critics.
"l've starting feeling over the last couple of years very protective of 'The Partridge Family,'" Cassidy said in Sunday's New York News-day. "People don't remember just how successful it was and what a well-crafted show it was for what it was."
The hit comedy, about a family-trned-rock-'n'-roll-band, aired on ABC from 1970 to 1974.
Cassidy, 43, is writing a book about his experiences on the show. And he's preparing a concert tour celebrating the 1970s, "since that was the last decade dedicated to having a good time, having a party."
But first, Cassidy is joining the cast of the Broadway musical, 'BIood Brothers," next month.
