David Cassidy Pops In At Foxwoods Saturday

It may be a coincidence that on the same night the Monkees play this market, David Cassidy also swings into the state for a show.
Like the Monkees, Cassidy was cast for a TV show but ended up as a pop star when he extended his Keith Partridge character on "The Partridge Family" to a solo recording career.
The TV show's premiere in 1970 got a boost when the Partridge Family's first single, "I Think I Love You," sold 6 million copies before the sitcom even hit the air.
Cassidy's solo career took off 30 years ago with a Top 10 remake of the Association's "Cherish."
But the more he tried to distance himself from the TV show, which lasted four seasons, the harder time he had, no matter what kind of impressive band he got together (including one with Mick Ronson. (Ronson was a guitarist-producer-songwriter who also worked with David Bowie, Bob Dylan and others. He died in 1993 after being diagnosed with cancer.)
Cassidy turned to TV acting and theater, most recently appearing in "At the Copa" in Las Vegas. But at age 50, he's back on the road performing his new and old songs, taking his cues from fan websites to choose which ones to perform. He's planning to record an album of new and old songs this year.
