Former teen heartthrob David Cassidy plays the Celebrity Showroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget April 7-8.
From television, recording and record-breaking concert tours; Broadway to Las Vegas production shows, creating TV sitcoms and producing, writing and directing TV and live theatrical productions, Cassidy has done it all. Hailing from a theatrical family, his fate as a performer was essentially seeded at a young age. Starring with Shirley Jones in "The Partridge Family" launched his career in the business.
In 1970, the year the show premiered, Cassidy skyrocketed to the top of the charts and the show became a hit, as did its young star. He had the No. 1 selling single of the year and garnered multiple Grammy nominations.
To date, his records have sold more than 35 million copies worldwide and have been recognized with 18 gold and platinum recordings, including four consecutive multi-platinum albums.
Cassidy was responsible for several chart-topping singles including, "Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted," "I Woke Up In Love This Morning" and "I Think I Love You."
Not just a singer or TV actor, opportunities on Broadway opened up a whole new world for him. He starred in the original production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" to rave reviews.
On London's West End, he starred in "Time" with Sir Laurence Olivier, and in 1994 he broke box-office records in the stunning production of "Blood Brothers," which sold out throughout the United States and Canada.
In 1996, Cassidy opened at Las Vegas' MGM Grand in the $75 million extravaganza "EFX." Under Cassidy's creative direction the show was entirely re-vamped, and became the most successful production in Las Vegas.
In 1999 Cassidy partnered with writer-producer Don Reo to create "The Rat Pack Is Back!" which played to sold-out audiences and received critical and popular acclaim.
Simultaneously Cassidy and Don Reo wrote/produced "At the Copa" in which he starred the following year at the Rio.
