Sue Shifrin-Cassidy, wife of Las Vegas performer David Cassidy, was delighted to accept a check in the amount of $100,000 from Laura Schulte, Chairman/President and CEO of Wells Fargo Bank Nevada N.A., on behalf of the Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) Foundation, to cover the administrative costs and Web site development of KidsCharities.org, the non-profit Internet-based organization she founded in 1999.
KidsCharities is an umbrella for many of the most vital and productive children's charities.
Wells Fargo's support of the administrative and Web site costs will allow KidsCharities to distribute all the donations made by the public to the participating children's charities: City of Hope, Special Olympics Nevada, Planet Hope, Chances for Children, Reggie Jackson's Mr. October Foundation for Kids, Kids Voting USA, WarChild USA, Safe America Foundation, Emerging Artists Fund, Defense Now for Schools, and Wheels for Humanity.
Wells Fargo is a natural ally since it is not only one of the most philanthropic corporations in the country, but also the leader in online banking. Wells Fargo already supports many of the charities that benefit from KidsCharities' efforts.
According to Mendy Elliott, VP/Director of Community and Government Relations for Wells Fargo Bank Nevada N.A., "Looking at the Board and the energy behind the organization -- it was a fairly simple decision to support KidsCharities.org. We hope that this relationship will provide an excellent opportunity to help the organization. By virtue of our mutual Web site link and all of the publicity that the KidsCharities events and supporting celebrities generate, we know they will meet with great success."
KidsCharities is proud that its unique online giving opportunities, coupled with live events and strategic marketing partnerships, are revolutionizing fund-raising to benefit children everywhere.
"Areas that will benefit from our efforts include emergency and medical care, basic human needs, safety, education, the environment, and the arts," said Shifrin-Cassidy.
Current fund-raising projects include David Cassidy/KidsCharities.org Family Day at the Races at the Saratoga Racetrack, sponsored by the New York Racing Association Inc., on August 12. The event is coupled with an online auction hosted by Yahoo!(R) on its charity auction site. The event will benefit the Albany Medical Center Children's Cancer Program, Yale University School of Pediatric Medicine, Belmont Child Care Association, Northeast Parent & Child Society, and the Duchess of York's charity Chances for Children. Funds generated from the auction will be distributed among all the charities considered to be eggs in the nest on the charity's symbolic "Tree of Life."
