David Cassidy's LADY D'JOUR roared down the stretch to overpower a state-bred maiden field for fillies and mares, winning by three lengths under the wire. Racing over the inner turf course at Aqueduct Racetrack, jockey Aaron Gryder patiently nursed the three year-old daughter of Thunder Rumble up the backstretch and had the filly poised to strike at the top of the stretch. Trainer Gary Contessa opted to remove the blinkers for today's race and the strategy obviously paid off with this convincing effort.

Bred by Braeburn Farm, Lady d'Jour is out of the Judger mare, Etoile de Huit, who also produced stakes winner Ask For Speed (Cozzene). Mr. Cassidy, purchased the filly at the 1998 Fasig-Tipton Preferred sale in Saratoga for a mere $8,000.
