David Cassidy's LADY D'JOUR beat state-bred allowance company in a non-winners of 1X condition today at beautiful Belmont Park. Carded as the fifth race on the Wednesday racing card, the allowance was run at a distance of one and one-quarter mile over the inner turf course. Ridden by jockey Aaron Gryder, Lady D'jour saved ground while moving up the backstretch and into the last turn before swinging three wide around Win by Decision and Off Your Rocker to take the lead nearing the eighth pole. After clearing the latter two fillies, Gryder had to work hard to hold off a determined Milkmustache by a half-length.
Bred by Braeburn Farm Corp, Mr. Cassidy purchased the filly for $8,000 at the 1998 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Preferred Yearling sale. Lady D'jour is by Thunder Rumble, out of the Judger mare, Etoile de Huit, and has now earned $66,110 with a Lifetime Record: 10-2-0-2. The four year-old chestnut filly is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner, Ask For Speed
