Los Angeles - Collectively, the networks that comprise the MTV Networks group outdid themselves on the final day of the summer 2004 Television Critics Association tour.
VH1 began by producing David Cassidy and Danny Bonaduce of "The Partridge Family," along with a replica of the famous singing family's multi-colored tour bus parked in front of the Westin Century Plaza, site of the 2004 summer TCA tour. Cassidy and Bonaduce are both involved in the network's new reality series based on the classic sitcom, in which viewers will cast each member of a new Partridge clan. All of the winners will appear in a pilot for a new "Partridge" series.
"Everybody in this room probably has some recollection that comes to mind," MTV and VH1 Entertainment president Brian Graden said of "The Partridge Family" as he prepared to introduce Cassidy and Bonaduce. "Whether it's that trippy bus or your secret crush on David or those strange cutaways to Chris, who seemed to be playing the drums, but not really." Graden wasn't kidding. The critics in the room loved seeing Cassidy and Bonaduce together, happily recalling many a Friday night spent watching "The Partridge Family" when it first aired on ABC as a component of one of the all-time great sitcom blocks.
