Stage presents
We admit we're more sarcastic than sentimental when it comes to the season. So it was the strangely creative combo of classic story--Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"--and '70s TV star David Cassidy that caught our interest. Cassidy, who played singing sensation Keith Partridge, was set to star as Scrooge. But almost immediately after this bizarre announcement, we heard that Cassidy was out (due to illness) and Richard "The Thorn Birds" Chamberlain was in. Huh? Well, the whole thing hardly mattered anyway. The production was here (at the Oriental Theatre) and gone (Nov. 7) before we could blink. A Christmas play that closes in early November? Bah, humbug.
