David Cassidy to Deliver Keynote at Hall of Fame Induction

David Cassidy, a well known entertainer and longtime Thoroughbred owner and breeder, will deliver the keynote speech during the National Museum of Racing's Hall of Fame induction ceremonies in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The 50th annual induction ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Fasig-Tipton sale pavilion. It is free and open to the public.
The 2005 inductees are trainer Nick Zito, steeplechase and flat trainer Sidney Watters Jr., steeplechase rider Thomas Walsh and five-time steeplechase champion horse Lonesome Glory.
"Through the years, there have been tens of thousands of people who have been in the game as trainers and jockeys so it's such an honor for these individuals, as well as the equine athletes, to have achieved the Hall of Fame," Cassidy said. "It's one of the highlights of my entire adult life and career to be asked to speak at the induction ceremony and articulate my passion for racing. To say I'm flattered would be a gross understatement."
Cassidy purchased his first Thoroughbred in 1973 and was involved in breeding and selling before expanding into racing. He currently has an ownership position in a total of 28 Thoroughbreds, a group that includes broodmares, weanlings, yearlings, and horses in training. His top 3-year-old, the colt Mayan King, has recovered from a pulled muscle and is being prepared for a return to racing.
A summertime resident of Saratoga Springs, Cassidy began his journey toward international stardom as an actor and singer in 1970 on the hit television series, "The Partridge Family." His extensive resume includes sales of more than 50 million recordings, 24 gold and platinum recordings, starring roles on Broadway and in London's West End and writing, producing and starring in long-running shows in Las Vegas. He is in the final week of a European tour.
