They may be more than 30 years older, with a few more wrinkles and grey hairs but then, so were most of the audience.

Age just didn't seem important to the thousands of fans who packed out the CIA to re-live that wonderful era when record sales meant chart domination.

From the time Showaddywaddy bounced onto the stage, the Welsh crowd were on their feet. The fans didn't seem bothered they were off key and struggling with notes, they just lapped up 1970s' memories.

By the time heart-throb David Cassidy came on, fans were ecstatic. He still has stunning good looks for a man of 57, and his voice was outstanding.

His charm and talent shone, turning the audience into a sea of swooning women with the men sat firmly in their seats.

David Essex gave an equally impressive performance. After belting out songs such as Hold Me Close and Silver Dream Machine, the crowd screamed for more and he delivered with Gonna Make You A Star.

By the time The Osmonds came on, carrying two Welsh flags, hysteria had reached fever pitch.

'It's good to be back in Wales,' said Jimmy, before Wayne and Jay joined him in a fantastic performance of songs including Let Me In and Love Me For A Reason.

A truly amazing three hours of entertainment.
