Fans stepped back to the '70s last night when a host of former teen idols took to the stage at the NEC.

Screaming women waved banners in the air before many made a mass stampede to the front.

Showaddywaddy, David Cassidy, David Essex and The Osmonds were all there for the Once in a Lifetime Rewind Tour - and it was like they had never been away.

Showaddywaddy kicked off the night, delighting the crowd with hits including Pretty Little Angel Eyes and When. Next, hearthrob David Cassidy bounded across the stage performing hits from his career including the seminal I Think I Love You.

And David Essex proved his voice was still pitch perfect as he blasted out hits including Hold Me Close and Rock On, in a dazzling act that made him by far the star of the night.

The Osmonds' headline act featured Jimmy, Jay, and Wayne. Highlight of the set was a rip-roaring Crazy Horses where Jimmy waved a flare around the stage.

Amongst the thousand of fans was Julie Parton, 48, from Cannock, who has now seen the Osmonds 62 times.

Susan Jackson-Guest, 48, from Sedgley; Yvonne Cox, 44, of Wolverhampton; Liz Cyster, 49, from Brownhills; Doreen Haynes, 54, from Wolverhampton; Linda Taylor, 43, from Great Wyrley, and Sue Fellows, 47, from Dudley were also all there to see The Osmonds. Linda said: "It was a fantastic night. I'm floating on air."
