Streetsboro Jam. Streetsboro's Boardwine Family Band begins the next phase of its attempt to win a recording contract on CBS' Early Show this morning.
The band includes Jim on background vocals and guitar; daughter Desiree, 17, on lead vocals and guitar; son Brett, 14, on keyboard; and Jim's brother Joe on drums.
The Early Show chose six family-tied groups to compete. This morning, the Boardwines will perform against the Oswald Bros. Band from Atlanta.
The bands will get comments from celebrity judges David Cassidy (whose fame began with the Partridge Family), Kathy Sledge (of Sister Sledge fame) and rapper-producer Jermaine Dupri, also known as the beau of Janet Jackson. But online votes will determine whether the Boardwines go on to the next round, which will feature the winners from three weeks of two-band faceoffs.
After those three weeks, there will be two more elimination rounds before a winner is announced on April 1.
