The Cassidy Brothers Return with 'Ruby & the Rockits' on ABC Family

In an age of celebrity and teen idols and the drama that comes with leading a normal life, there are many celebrity icons and former stars out there living life outside of the spotlight. For their next upcoming series, Ruby & the Rockits, the folks at ABC Family have looked to two of the biggest names in TV and music, as David Cassidy and Shaun Cassidy have teamed up with their other brother Patrick for a series about a former '80s pop star whose trying to lead a quiet life with his family.
Interestingly, since David and Patrick Cassidy were the biggest stars on the planet in the mid-to-late '70s, both bring loads of celebrity realism to the drama of Ruby & the Rockits, as David stars as the brother trying to recapture the glory days of success while raising a daughter while Shaun works behind the scenes as executive producer, writer, and songwriter, and Patrick as the lead brother who's trying to live a normal life out of the spotlight.
Starring David Cassidy and Patrick Cassidy, executive produced and co-written by Shaun Cassidy, and set designed by Ryan Cassidy, Ruby & the Rockits debuts on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 on ABC Family.

Burbank, CA (July 10, 2009) - Patrick Gallagher (Patrick Cassidy) is a former 80's pop star who has chosen to lead a quiet life with his wife, Audie (Katie Amanda Keane), and two sons - Jordan (Austin Butler) and Ben (Kurt Doss). But when his former Rockits band mate and brother, David (David Cassidy), shows up unexpectedly with his new-found teenage daughter in tow, Ruby (Alexa Vega), the Gallagher family's life becomes anything but normal. David, who refuses to give up his past glory days, comes to Patrick for help in raising Ruby while he continues to perform. Patrick must now put the past with David behind them in order to help raise Ruby and keep order within the rest of the Gallagher clan. "Ruby & the Rockits" debuts on Tuesday, July 21, at 8:30PM ET/PT-9:00PM ET/PT, following a new episode the ABC Family's original series "10 Things I Hate About You."
"Ruby & the Rockits" is an ABC Studios half-hour multi-cam comedy executive-produced by Shaun Cassidy and Marsh McCall. "Ruby & the Rockits" story by Shaun Cassidy ("Invasion") and Ed Yeager, with teleplay by Ed Yeager and Marsh McCall ("Carpoolers"). The pilot was directed by Ted Wass. Alexa Vega ("Spy Kids", Patrick Cassidy ("Smallville"), Katie Amanda Keane ("Eli Stone"), Austin Butler ("Zoey 101"), Kurt Doss ("Role Models"), and David Cassidy ("The Partridge Family") star. This is the first time all four of the Cassidy brothers have worked together. Youngest brother Ryan Cassidy is a set designer on the show.
Hollywood Records has released a full length version of "Lost in Your Own Life," which Ruby (Alexa Vega) sings in the pilot episode. The single is currently available on iTunes and other digital retailers. Vega also sings the series' opening title song, "You Are Where I Live," which was written by Shaun Cassidy.
