Some teen idols cross over into other generations thanks to the magic of television. No doubt there are quite a few children of the '80s who grew up thinking the Davids (that's David Cassidy and Davy Jones, for those not in the know) were still the rosy-cheeked heartthrobs they were in the decades previous, instead of mature, slightly graying men. Thanks to MTV's reruns of "The Monkees" and reissues of the band's albums, certain girls spent the early part of their years gazing longingly into the eyes of Davy Jones only to discover that, these days, the diminutive singer more resembled their fathers than a worthy crush. Maybe the bell-bottomed pants and wonky patterns the group wore on the show should have been taken as a sign that these were not first-run episodes, but it was the '80s, when neon ruled the day. Nevertheless, true love is true love. So what if Cassidy no longer sports feathered hair just aching for someone to run her hands through it? He's still got that smile, and that beguiling sparkle hasn't left the drowning pools Jones calls eyes. Oh, and both stars can still sing. Because it's really all about the music, right? Get ready to belt out "Daydream Believer" and "I Think I Love You." 8 p.m. Saturday, Rosemont Theatre, 5400 N. River Rd., Rosemont. $37.50-$75 or ticketmaster.com.
