As one of the many baby boomers who grew up with the Monkees and the Partridge Family in my teen years, seeing these two performers, Davy Jones and David Cassidy, in person was a thrill. They were terrific entertainers then and have only improved in time.

Davy Jones opened the concert with a 7-member ensemble. They began with many of the Monkees songs. In between each song he was full of humor and stories. He is such the consummate entertainer, singer, dancer, comedian and story teller.

During one point at the end of his set, his bride, Jessica Pacheco, performed a brilliant flamenco dance that thrilled everyone. She's a very talented dancer.

Davy ended his set with the song he sang to Marsha Brady on the Brady Bunch Show on which he guest starred. This was followed by my all time Monkee's favorite "Day Dream Believer." Then, David Cassidy joined him to sing "I'm a Believer." It was really a terrific show.

The house at Nokia Center in Grand Prairie, Texas, was packed full and it was all ages and not all women. However, you should have seen the number of women who rushed to the stage at the end of his performance. Just like teenagers, and they weren't!

Then, David Cassidy's set opened with "Crossroads" from Cream, which was Eric Clapton's group in 1967. That was followed by many Partridge Family songs.

I never realized that David Cassidy was such the rock and roller. He even performed a two-song tribute to his relationship with former Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney many years ago to songs he'd played with them on different occasions which was very moving.

This was followed by the closest rendition to Jimi Hendrix I've heard since the days of seeing and hearing Stevie Ray Vaughn in person in Austin, Texas. Cassidy is a very talented guitarist in his own right.

Finally, as his last song, he performed "I Think I Love You," which I had been waiting for. Before he was finished, the stage rim was flooded again with women wanting autographs and photos.

For those of you who may not remember, "I Think I Love You" was the best selling record of 1970. And David Cassidy became the highest paid solo performer at the age of 21. David's fan club is said to be larger than both those of Elvis and the Beatles. However, after going to Graceland several years ago, I have a hard time believing anyone's fan club exceeds the Elvis ones. Maybe.
