David Cassidy sues Sony for Partridge Family royalties (Videos)

Former teen idol David Cassidy has filed a lawsuit against Sony. Cassidy claims that Sony has cheated him out of millions of dollars in profits he should have received from "The Patridge Family" show.
TMZ reported that David's lawsuit states that Sony used used his image on merchandising without his permission for 40 years-- and cheated him out of the his share of the profits.
In 1971, David Cassidy signed a contract with the Sony production company that he alleges guaranteed him 15% of the net on all merchandise revenues for the use of his likeness, and 7.5% for other Partridge Family merchandise which includes board games, lunch boxes magazines and clothing.
David claims that in the past 40-years Sony has only paid him a mere $5,000 and is currently suing Sony for breach of contract and fraud for an undisclosed amount of money, but somewhere to the tune of millions.
David Cassidy most recently was one of the contestants on Celebrity Apprentice.
The Partridge Family aired in 1970-1974. The first episode debuted on September 25,1970 on ABC as part of a Friday night line-up.
The comedy sitcom centers around a widowed mother and her five children who have aspire to have a career in music.
The Partridge Family was created by Bernard Slade,who got the inspiration for the show from the Cowsills.The Cowsills were a real family pop musical act that was famous in the late 1960's. In the beginning the actual Cowsill family was being considered for the TV roles of The Partridge Family,but the idea was tossed because they were not trained actors.

Nickelodeon featured a run of The Partridge Family in the mid-90s as part of its Nick-At-Nite lineup. The network used interviews and commercials featuring cast members, and created a new version of the bus for promotion. The show also aired at various times on Fox Family, ION Television, and Hallmark Channel.
