Aging teen heartthrob David Cassidy and Regis Philbin, the retired hardest-working-man-in-showbiz, inspired about 400 supporters of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County to continue their efforts Thursday at the group's yearly breakfast in Boca Raton.
Cassidy, 61, the singer of I Think I Love You and star of the 1970s sitcom The Partridge Family, was a surprise addition to the event. He lives downtown Fort Lauderdale and didn't have to travel far north to the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
Philbin, meanwhile, was the announced speaker, and he emphasized the role of the Y for today's children torn between distractions.
"He gave us all a boost in continuing to support the YMCA," said breakfast organizer Yvonne Boice.
Of course Philbin, 80 going on 70, found some time to autograph copies of his latest tome, How I Got This Way.
