Hollywood is taking a cue from Don Johnson. Not by wearing fuchsia jackets a la Miami Vice, but by taking note of the $23 million in profits he was awarded by a jury for his work on Nash Bridges. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Cassidy has sued Sony as a result of having only received what he believes is a miniscule portion of over $500 million in reported revenue generated by the Partridge Family and auxilliary items.
Apparently, Cassidy, at 62 years old, is not alone. Several other stars who are over 80 years old are confronting companies such as NBC, Warner Brothers, Paramount and CBS with accusations of hiding profits, withholding royalties and diverting revenue in what is being termed "Hollywood Accounting".
Which brings us back to Kessler. Forensic Accountants look behind the numbers and when there is a question of hidden revenue and withheld royalties, a royalty audit and/or a forensic audit can help you make sure you receive what you are due. Hollywood Accounting calls for more than a typical CPA firm. Forensic accountants are specialists in spotting revenue that others want to hide. Flashy Hollywood Accounting is no match for us, and when the cameras stop rolling we'll be there to go behind the scenes and get the whole picture.
