David Cassidy vs. Sony Pictures Entertainment: Cassidy Seeks $10 Million in Merchandising Royalties from Partridge Family Sales

June 13, 2012

Business WirePress Release: JAG Entertainment

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

David Cassidy's claims against Sony Pictures Entertainment survives yet another challenge. David Cassidy's counsel, Kenneth A. Linzer of Hobart Linzer LLP, urged Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Joseph Kalin to hear the case and preserve Cassidy's right to a trial by a jury of his peers in his quest to have Sony finally pay him the monies that he is owed. The claims specifically cite earnings from merchandise sold during his superstardom in The Partridge Family, for which SPE was contractually obligated to pay Cassidy for any usage of his or the PF name and/or likeness. He was arguably the most merchandised entity of the era and has seen earnings of no more than $15,000 to date. Estimated royalties due are in excess of $10,000,000.

David Cassidy simply wants an open and public airing of his right to receive money from Sony while Sony wants to hide behind the cloak of private arbitration. The ruling is currently under consideration with Judge Kalin.
