Come on, get happy Partridge Family fans... David Cassidy is performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the South Park Amphitheater.
The '70s teen idol typically sings Partridge Family tunes such as "I Think I Love You," solo hits like his 1971 Top-10 single "Cherish," and cover songs that inspired him musically.
His band includes Davy Jones' longtime guitarist Dave Robicheau, and bassist-musical director Frank Fabio, a Pittsburgh native, who performed for years with Wayne Newton.
Cassidy, 63, has had to overcome some health challenges the past month or so.
"Recently I have had eye surgery and I had a fall," he said in a June 28 message on his website. "I broke another finger on my left hand but that's okay, it is healing. Nothing will stop me from playing and from doing what I love to do."
Due to sickness, he also struggled to get through a San Diego concert, which prompted an outpouring of get-well messages from fans all over the world.
"I am really okay and back better than ever and feeling really, really excited about the shows I have coming up," Cassidy said. "I am more excited now about playing than I have ever been. I am having the best time I have ever had playing live now."
