Forty years and he's still going strong.
David Cassidy did enough in the '70s with The Partridge Family to last his lifetime; if he never played again or took stage after his heyday, he'd still get his chapter in music history.
But yet he continues to reinvent himself and adapt over time, taking on new genres and stretching to new comfort zones – simply for the sake of loving the music.
You can see him live Friday at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.
Cassidy lovers can hope to expect some of his chart-topping Partridge Family singles, ranging from "Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted" to "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" to "I Think I Love You."
Then there are classics released under his own name as a solo artist: "Rock Me Baby" and "Cherish," to name a few.
All in all, his work – both through television and through the stage – has helped to sell more than 30 million records and bring in accolades including 24 gold and platinum recordings.
To see him live and in a new kind of prime is a treat.
After all, entertaining and performing is what has consumed Cassidy's life since he was a young adult. His latest television stint in 2009 ("Ruby & the Rockits" on ABC Family) came after his Las Vegas gig at MGM Grand as the star of "EFX." The combination of stories and songs are limitless.
You can check him out ahead of time at davidcassidy.com. There, you can access his albums, lyrics, singles, videos and a full chronology of his work since his first release in 1970, "The Partridge Family Album."
