Eric Clapton, The Who, Kelly Clarkson; there are certain live shows, which when they come around, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of them. You don't want to count yourself among the regretful procrastinators who said, once upon a time, "I think I'll just wait for the next Bob Marley/Elvis/Doors/Amy Winehouse concert." If you've been waiting for David Cassidy to come back to San Diego, you got lucky. You'd better not push your luck, though. David's got an arthritic back, poor soul, and there's no telling when he will travel back this way again, if ever.
David Cassidy shall be performing live at Sycuan Casino on Sunday, March 22. If you are a fan of his--who isn't--and if you're into NCAA basketball, which of course you are, this is a confluence of outstanding entertainment, events and timing. Along with this truly rare 70s heartthrob who actually did sing, play and even write his own music, Sycuan Casino has a Sports Book. As if you needed even one more reason to go, the 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament will be embroiled within its first weekend of exceptional action. If you have never experienced opening weekend of the March Madness tourney at a casino sports book, it is a life altering and affirming experience.
March Madness on its own is wholly captivating. Catching it home with your own dubious brackets in hand is entertainment enough for most. Sitting in a sports book, where you can make legal bets to hedge your horrific, and doomed, bracket, knowing that your night concludes with a David Cassidy concert..we're talking nirvana.
On Sunday, if all goes as anticipated, Cassidy will open and close with "I Think I Love You." Also, Kansas ought to be facing off against Wichita in a sensational, Round 3, instate match up. Mr. Cassidy's back may be shot, but his voice is as pure as ever. Any who have suffered through a recent Neil Diamond or Van Morrison mumbling exhibition will appreciate that. So, bring your loved one, your work pool and your appreciation for nostalgia. By Sunday night your bracket could be ruined, but the making of beautiful memories is just getting started.
