Have you ever wondered what “T he Partridge Family”album titles all had in common? Well, you’re about to find out that answer.
See, all eight albums from “The Partridge Family” all reflected titles having to do with paper.
The first five albums, “The Partridge Family Album, “Up to Date,” “Sound Magazine,” “A Partridge Family Christmas Card,” and “Shopping Bag,” all went gold. The other three albums were “The Partridge Family Notebook,” “Crossword Puzzle,” and “Bulletin Board.”
In review, those eight albums referred to a photo album, a calendar, a magazine, a Christmas card, a shopping bag, a notebook, a crossword puzzle, and a bulletin board.
‘The Partridge Family’ Had Two Singles Go Gold
Two songs, “I Think I Love You” and “Doesn’t Somebody Want to Be Wanted,” also reached gold record levels.
“I Think I Love You” was written by songwriter Tony Romeo. He also wrote songs for The Everly Brothers, The Seekers, and actor-singer Richard Harris.
That’s some kind of success for a television show whose only true vocalists where Shirley Jones and David Cassidy.
Bonaduce’s Dad Banned From The Show’s Set
While the show was successful for four seasons on ABC from 1970-74, its cast members had a lot of off-air issues.
None may be more serious to bring up than Danny Bonaduce, who played Danny Partridge on the show. His home life was sheer terror for the young boy.
It has been reported that Bonaduce would spend so much time in makeup. Why? Because make-up artists were covering up wounds he suffered from beatings his father doled out.
Danny’s father, Joseph Bonaduce, didn’t treat his son or his siblings with any love. Obviously, that behavior ended up getting Joseph banned from the ABC hit show’s set.
“My dad thought he was disciplining,” Bonaduce said in an interview. He added that he “never thought he was being abusive – ever. He always thought he was doing the right thing, and he did not like me enough to do the right thing by me. Which would have been to whip me – literally – into shape.”
His mother would bring him to the set. But his father was banned after the show’s second year.
