May 28: American teen idol David Cassidy plays a sell-out concert at Maine Road, Manchester, as part of his UK Tour. Songs on his set list included the hits How Can I Be Sure and Rock Me Baby.
It was a return visit to the city for Cassidy who’d performed at Belle Vue the previous year. In fact, Belle Vue was the first venue on his European Tour.
Demand was so great that Cassidy played two shows in one evening – the first at 5.30pm for youngsters and the second at 8.00pm for older fans.
