Guess you thought I melted in the desert huh? *LOL*
Anyway, on to my exciting DC news I just have to share with you guys! Before we left for Vegas, I was teasing Mike that David was playing in Laughlin the night we were in arriving and if he wasn't nice to me then I was going to run away thru the desert and spend my weekend with David instead! *LOL* I was really only half joking, I didn't think I had any chance of getting to Laughlin knowing how much Mike likes Vegas so I told myself I would see him in L.A. soon anyway so I shouldn't pout.
Well my crazy husband tells me he is taking me to Lake Meed for our first night there, rents a car and before I know it we drive way past the Lake cut off. I said "Hey where are we going? Wasn't that the Lake exit?" He says "Oh well, I had a better idea, how would you like to see David Cassidy for your birthday instead?" I litterally screamed so loud with excitement I swear the coyotes could hear me! *LOL* Mike even covered his ears in anticipation waiting for the yelp of excitement, it was too funny!
So best part is, tickets were only $19.70 and I charmed my way thru the ticket sale by saying I was this huge David fan who saw him in Atlantic City last month and that it was my birthday and I really wanted to see David up close and personal. Before I knew it she gave me a EE ticket at the aisle center stage 5 rows from David that I felt he was in my living room, it was so cool!
The show was great, so much engery. David was so personable, told jokes, danced around, complained about the heat (almost 113 degrees) and seemed so greatful we were sweating along with him! *L* He even said at one point, "hey what if I died tonight, can you imagine ET tomorrow? What great publicity!" LOL He was great, a true performer, sang Jimi's "Kiss the Sky" this time, whaled on that guitar, really had us dancing in the aisles. Even the old people who got in for free were clapping and cheering along! I rushed the stage for ITILY again and got to shake his hand again (only once this time, but it was a long hold so that was cool) The whole night was great. David is a class act for sure!
The best part was after the show when I lined up by the side stage with the die hard fans. Robyn came out to announce David was doing his Meet and Greet and had to leave, no autographs please. Most people groaned and walked away. About 6 of us were left, I moved closer, Robyn did a double take and said "Hey, I met you before didn't I? Didn't we meet in Atlantic City, you're from Canada right?" I nodded and smiled profusely. She continues "I got your email for the picture request but just didn't have the time to mail it to you yet. Wait here just one second ok?" She leaves and comes back with a brown envelope and pulls out a 8 by 10 headshot of David and it was signed in black marker! At first I thought it was a rubber stamp signature like the old Tiger Beats, but later I compared it with the guy next to me who had the exact picture from a previous meeting and sure enough it was REAL! I couldn't have been more thrilled! I thanked her more times then I could remember and stepped back to admire my new find, chatting with the die hard fans about the concert and David's career in general.
Sure enough, about 20 minutes later a big white car slows down to leave the backstage parking and one girl says "I wonder if that is David leaving?" We all stood there staring at the car and suddenly the blackened window rolls down and David himself pops his head out extending his arm to us waving and shouts with a big smile "thanks for coming everyone, see you next time". We all wave back with our own various "thanks David....great show....you're the best" chants and off the car goes. It was like a dream, happening all so fast.
Then as we walk down the ramp to leave one of the fans says "hey, look who is coming, do you know who that is?" I look again, its Tracy Partridge herself! Suzanne Crough and her two daughters are approaching us walking with us like she was a fan of David's too, it was cool. Such a nice lady, so down to earth and sweet I had to keep reminding myself this was a real life celebrity from the Partridge Family! I was dying to ask for an autograph, but was too chicken so I just walked and talked to her as did the other 5 of us and we headed back into Harrahs with her and her kids, it was so cool!
We drove back to Vegas for the remainder of the weekend. I ended up winning over $200 on one pull of a nickel machine and managed to catch the "Rat Pack is Back" show before I left too. As I said, best birthday I can remember in years! I just had to share it with you guys, hope I didn't bore you with the sorted details, sorry if I was too longwinded as usual.
Thank you to Lynn and Erik from David Cassidy Fan Site of Norway.
