Concert Reviews
Orange County Performing Arts, Santa Ana, CA
November 21 and 22, 2003
Kaboem ... kaboem ... kaboem ... the sound of drum ... like a heart rhythm ... faster, faster, louder, ... faster louder ... then the rest of the orchestra joins in, also David's band ... there's David ... singing I can feel your heartbeat! He introduces himself and starts I'll meet you halfway. The first concert is a search for good words and trying to get the audience to follow ! But it's difficult and we try to encourage our idol. Everybody can see that David is very nervous ! But he brings it to a good end. We all enjoyed it ... The second night is much better. David seems more relaxed.
He also sings Point me in the direction of Albuquerque and this sounds very different than what we are used to hear. Much heavier, so much musicians playing ! They sound of violins and percussion instruments, trumpets ... whhhaaahwww !!!!.
David seems to love singing with them. It must feel different and good ... ! They people in the orchestra seem to enjoy it too ... they smile and laugh with David's jokes. The audience is much better the second evening.
Candice brings David his coat. He looks lovely in it ! Could it be forever is THE song ... where he almost does it again ... LOL ... forgetting the words ... we sing along !! His fans are closer the second night. What feels better.we hope David likes it too. When he sings "Since I Fell For You" ... we loose it ... this is so beautiful ... with all these violins and piano ... oh my ... not to talk of his voice !!!! Whaahww !!!
I am a clown ... yes ... he'll never change ... we will always love that voice! And with this orchestra ... it's so fantastic. Hope this is not once in a lifetime. Fans shout out to David ... that they love him. And he laughs, loves it, we hope! Summerdays ... we're all singing along by now!
He says he was the first to record the song "I write the songs" ... as we all know! Trying to convince the rest of the audience. He says , "I was the first to record it!" And he also talks about "Get it up for love" ... singing it the second time in the U.S. and we hope he would. Oh my ... somebody shouts out Pinoccio LOL..!
I loved the sound of that orchestra. Gives those songs so much more! Fantastic!! "How can I be sure" was on the list too, "Cherish", "Breaking up is hard to do" , in the new version, from the new CD. The venue was very acoustic, the sound was fabulous! I for one was crying. And several with me! David as usual thanks his band, his singers and the orchestra. "C'mon get Happy" to let the people know what he's talking about all evening! He thanks us fans, and everybody else. And there it is the usual "ITILY" we scream and shout!! Make him laugh ... and there we go ... papapaaaappaaappaaaa!!! We know this is the end ! As an encore he sings "Cry".
Then he's off and the lights go on. Bye David, we love you ... see you soon!! We leave for Connecticut in a few days to see David perform at the Wolf Den in the Mohegan Sun Casino.
These concerts in symphony where fantastic, we hope you do it again some day!
