I went to the concert by myself and I did not want to get caught in the Friday freeway traffic, so I drove up to Fairfield in the late morning. There wasn't much to do in Fairfield, and I ended up going to the mall to kill time. There they had City Hall in the Mall which was one of two in the country. I don't remember how I found out, but they had my prepaid ticket in an envelope with my name on it. Since I had a choice to get the ticket early I did.
David Cassidy was great as expected. He was sang his songs from his latest CD, "Then and Now". He noticed certain people and acknowledged them because they have been at his previous concerts. He also acknowledged people who were wearing Partridge Family shirts. He sounded surprised on how small the theater was, and said being there was like being in his living room because he could see everyone.
He had did not have the time to do a sound check though, and he was frustrated that the speaker on the stage was not working properly. He kept asking if we could hear him OK, and we kept telling him that he was fine. He sounded great, but I was impressed with his concern about whether we could hear him.
I have a physical disability, and I was afraid that someone would knock me over if I went up front or stood in the isle while taking some pictures, so I did not bother getting my camera out of the car. Then someone in the row in front of me recognized me from high school. I asked for her if she would take some pictures with my camera, and she did. That was nice. Thanks Kim Jensen.
In conclusion, I had a great time seeing him, and I am glad that I went.
Thanks David for a great show!
