Hammersmith Apollo
My name is Carolyn and I bought 2 tickets from Jane (via Ebay) for Hammersmith. I also went to Wembley which is where I first met Jane and her German friend Silvia. So lovely to meet them both and in fact on the Hammersmith night they let me have tickets 4 rows closer than my original! So a huge thank you to them. So I said I would post a review on here for you all to read so here goes:
Starting with The Once In A Lifetime Rewind tour - the whole show was fantastic!! Showaddywaddy get the audience going and I found I knew more songs than I thought I would. They were great entertainers (especially for their age!!!). Then our man came next (my friend and I had managed to get from the 15th row to 3rd row so had a great view)- he looked gorgeous, so sexy, fit and smiley and very happy and relaxed. He did a great set of songs and seemed to be on a nice long time. I just love Daydreamer and David seems to love it when he holds the mike to the audience and we know all the words!!! At some of the shows he has been singing Some Kind of a Summer but sadly not tonight. Next came David Essex who is also lovely. He does a mixture of old and new songs, some of the new are really good especially Beautiful Day which he opens with. Finally The Osmonds, only 3 of them - Jimmy, Jay and Wayne who are just great entertainers with some cheeky little dance routines. They came back on for an encore and said there was another brother who was going to join them.......Guess who?! Yes our David. It was fantastic, they all sang He ain't Heavy, he's my Brother. What a great evening.
Then last night at Hammersmith...WOW! 4th row was great - Hammersmith is much smaller than Wembley and a lot more intimate. Showaddywaddy again did a great set - bit longer than the night before and they even got 12 fans to join them on stage for a dance! Small break then David comes on to rapturous applause. He opened with Rock me Baby, which was a change from I can Fell Your Heartbeat then sang Common Thief which I love. Did all the classics and a lot of interaction with the audience - a couple of girls (women!) even got a kiss! Lots got hand holds (I wasn't quite close enough). He was very chatty and flirty with us - swoon! Then a short break at the end of which the security were trying to get everyone to sit in their seats which wasn't working that well until David asked them too!!! This was because for the first time he was to sing a few songs from the new CD (only released in America at the moment) which is old songs with the music revamped in a modern disco style. He said he was very nervous and asked us to be patient. But he did fantastically - they were great tunes and he looked really chuffed that it gone so well! All too quickly he was saying goodnight - however he did come cack for 2 encores ( I had managed to get right to the stage for these - so close to him was fab). The final song was Cry which was dedicated to his Dad, and also to his Mum who is very poorly. He looked so choked up that it made me cry! A great great evening though and I think he spotted Jane's Australian scarf and thanked her for having it. Sorry you could not have all been there.
Take good care
Love Carolyn
