Concert Review
Autumn's review - Enid, Oklahoma
December 15, 2007
When this concert first came up I was not really sure I would go. But one of my Myspace friends named Mary wanted to go. Another Myspace friend Lizbeth also wanted to go. So we all decided to meet up in Kansas City and go to the concert together. My husband did not want to go, so he rode down with me to KC, and he stayed with his sister. I met Lizbeth at the airport. We met for the first time! She is just great too. We both waited for Mary to fly in from California. We did not wait long and her plane arrived, with us waiting at the gate. We had not met her either. We were so glad to finally meet Mary too when she walked through the door. Mary is great also!. We then got her luggage and headed for Enid. We all rode together in Lizbeth's car. We chatted and got to know each other and listen to David all the way. Everyone thought we were all nuts for going to the concert. Why??? Because of all the bad weather they had recently. We had clear driving all the way. Only when we got to the OKLA border did it start spitting a little snow. We got into Enid at around 8:15 P.M. It had been a long day riding in the car for me, but a fun day meeting my 2 new David Cassidy friends!
Saturday we met up with a couple other David Cassidy fans (Nancy and Annie) and had lunch together. (I have met them before at other concerts). After lunch we went back to our hotel room and got ready for the concert. The show started at 8:00 P.M. We got there at around 5:30 to get our tickets and wait for the doors to open at 7:00 P.M. When we got there, we heard David inside practicing Christmas songs! I was so glad to hear this. I wanted to hear him sing some Christmas music and I got my wish! At 6:00 we got in and went to our table. We had a front row table off to the left. The tables were all decorated with white table cloths and Christmas decorations. We were served snacks, cheesecake, and wine. The wine glasses were unique. They had David's picture etched on them and we got to keep them! Was that cool or what!!!
A film crew came by our table. They found out that our table was full of David fans that had traveled to be there. (Loyal fans of course). They chatted with us for a while, then left. There was a local show that was on before David. When the promoter of the venue came out to announce David, he mentioned people being fans of David, and that we traveled from different places to be there for this show.
Then David came on. He opened with I Can feel your heart beat. He was wearing the shirt Silvia made for him. (He wore it all night long,)and the usual black pants Sang a lot of the usual songs, Crossroads, Echo Valley, Could it be forever, No Reply, Hide your love, Ain't no Sunshine, Cherish, Common Thief, I woke up in love, I think I love you etc.
David came out for a 2 song encore. He sang the Partridge Family song A Christmas Card and then The Christmas song (Chestnuts roasting). It had been a very long time since he'd sung any Christmas tunes. I loved them.
The concert had a couple obnoxious people with a couple incidents. I will not mention here. I was able to shake hands with David once. Somewhere at the beginning of the show he was looking at me and I blew him a kiss. He blew one right back. After the concert I got a guitar pick and a towel David used! (Thanks VERY much to Lizbeth!) I had a wonderful time. It was great meeting up with my 2 new friends and going to see David in concert. I will never forget it. Next concert: Wisconsin in February. See ya'll then!!!
