Concert Review
La Mirada Theater for the Perfoming Arts, CA
March 17, 2007
I had a great time on the weekend of the David Cassidy concert.
The weekend started for me the day before the concert when I drove down from the San Francisco Bay area starting about 10:30 AM. It was a long drive but I had David's music playing along with the Manhattan Transfer, and Frank Sinatra. I have only driven through the Grapevine once before when I went the David Cassidy concert in El Cajon in Nov. 2002. That drive was on a Sunday morning and I don't remember that much traffic. After I got through the Grapevine I thought that I was just approaching Norwalk, but that turned out to be another hour away, and even more time with all the traffic. I finally got to the hotel and about 9:00 PM because the Marriott was "hiding". LOL
The hotel gave me a suite to stay in, and that was really fun. I got much needed rest, and ordered room service. I arrived at the concert just as it was starting because I had a ticket for a particular seat. The ushers were nice, but very strict about not letting anyone take pictures. They did not want people to go up to the stage either but the fans managed to rush to the stage twice. When I was standing at the stage, I was waiting for David to make his way to me, and he was shaking so many hands that I only got to touch am arm. I was really nervous and because I am an epileptic, I forgot how when I get nervous I start to shut down. I end up looking depressed. I was wearing a David Cassidy long sleeve T-shirt, and I was hoping he would notice. I think he noticed me not smiling more. Too bad he doesn't know an epileptic.
After David went the other way, I turned around and found Cat standing behind me with her daughter. Cat has always been nice to me, so I was able to relax again. We visited a bit about what was going our lives. I also saw some familiar faces like Joyce and Jackie.
David was nice and sang well this night. He talked about what was going on in his life these days, and that made me think that he has the same family situations as the rest of us. This caused us to respect his private space when the concert was over.
After the concert I heard the name Geri Jewell, and I repeated it, looked over my shoulder and said comedian. She was standing behind me. Geri Jewell is a comedian/actress and motivational speaker. She also has C.P. like I do She had a role on the Facts of Life as Blair's cousin. She has be an inspiration to me since I have seen her on the Facts of Life. After I saw her and said comedian, she said "hi", and I was too shocked to answer. Later on that night, I looked her up on the internet, and emailed her. She was nice enough to email back. Seeing her was one of the nicest things that happen to me besides seeing David of course.
I am looking forward to the next David Cassidy because even though he is the utmost professional he also has a human side which was nice to see.
