Concert Reviews
Bergen Performing Arts Center, Englewood, NJ
October 20th, 2007
I was lucky enough to meet David backstage as the person I went with has known him for 30+ years. He was so gracious!! Not only that, he smelled realllllly good!
We hit traffic on our way to NJ from the city and got there a bit late so we didn't have much time with him. Still, it was a huge thrill. The room was more that 3/4 full of happy fans -- mostly women, of course!!
He did all of the usual songs and then a couple of extras including 2 Beatles numbers. It was a 2 hour show with a 15 minute intermission. I was surprised how long it was. His energy never faded -- as a matter of fact, he revved up as time went on. One of the videos I uploaded was shot after a woman literally threw a Partridge Family plastic guitar on stage which barely missed him. He said as kindly as he could that it was not a good thing to throw things at him in the dark. Very strange thing to do. She threw it and ran out of the theater. Earlier she was sort of waving it at him when he was singing and he king of raised his eyebrows and continued on.
One of the things I was struck by was how mean spirited the people who run the theater were. They were constantly yelling at people to sit down, stop taking photos, etc... There was even one sweet lady who brought flowers and was trying to give them to David -- The HUGE guard was dragging her off by her arm, so she stood behind him and waved til David saw her at which point he grabbed the flowers and the audience cheered. There was an orchestra pit between the stage and the audience so it was hard to get super close -- he just reached over and grabbed them.
I was able to meet a bunch of David Cassidy fans (who were in the front row!!) and had such a great time talking to them. Thanks for making me feel welcome!
Have a great day everyone!!
