David Cassidy - Concert Review
October 20, 2007
Bergen Performing Arts Center, Englewood, NJ
The next part of our trip after nine concerts at Epcot, was up to NJ to meet up with Frances, Sheila & Angela who were all arriving on the same flight from Paris via there separate connections from London, Newcastle & Hanover. On this night we just went for an evening meal across from the Hotel as our 3 newcomers were a little tired from the travelling. Poor old Sheila nearly had her head in her plate she was that tired.. On the Friday we met with Sue & went to see what the Theatre was like and pick some tickets up for the show. Then a wonder round Englewood before heading back to the Hotel because it was raining & did it rain that afternoon. In the evening 4 of us went into Manhattan (Jan stayed at the Hotel as she wasn't feeling to well) to meet Frances' friend Alison who works in NY. We had a meal in a great little Italian place then on for a couple of drinks in a small Bar next to the Supper Club before heading back to the Hotel. Then another drink with Sue & Ann who had arrived from her holiday in Texas
Saturday more fans arrived, some we didn't see until we got to the show though, quite a few that had been to Epcot as well. It wasn't until this afternoon we finally had it confirmed by the Theatre Manager the we had a M&G so that was good news. Another friend of ours Shirley & her husband Anthony arrived after rearranging their flights because she hadn't originally planned to come to NJ but we had managed to get her a ticket thanks to the girls still back in the UK at the time.
We arrived at the Theatre to find that they had been giving out more backstage passes for the M&G. There was about a 10ft drop of an Orchestra pit in front of the stage so no standing at the front of the stage that night. We were the last group to be taken up for the M&G so at the back of the queue but to cut a long story short all in our group myself, Jan, Frances, Sheila, Angela , Shirley, Marina & Astrid got our pic taken with him. No time for conversation just the pic & out you go but nice to have.
Another great show just marred by that pit & my was the security tight that night. No pictures or clips. I know some managed to sneak some in thank you those that did but we had no chance on the front row. One Lady did manage to throw a PF plastic guitar up on stage which he did pick up & attempt to play. lol. Thanks to the lady who managed to get a clip of this & put it up on YouTube. No encore this night even though nearly all the Theatre were shouting for him to come back on, probably off with his friends he said he had in the audience.
A group of us then went for a meal in the Restaurant next to the Theatre & then had to wait an age for Taxi's back to the Hotel, think they only had one running that night.
Sunday a lot of friends were travelling home but we were there for another night so it was off back into Manhattan to spend the evening at the revolving View Bar, great buffet cocktails & views of Manhattan, Barbara joined us & we had another very good evening even though I think you could say we might have had one to many by the time we left but hey we enjoyed it. Monday was travelling home day 2 of us back to Manchester & 3 to Paris to get their connections home.
This was another great trip thanks to everyone for their company & friendship & to Mr C for bringing us all together.
Until the next time, take care everyone.
