Concert Review

The Barrow Civic Theatre, Franklin, PA

Christine and the welcome David Cassidy posters

This town has to be one a the friendliest places I have ever visted, a small town with a very big heart! The feel good factor started early in the day as we strolled down the main street in the sunshine, David's music and wonderful voice was being played by loud speakers in the street! Not only that, stragically placed were large painted signs welcoming David to Franklin...that's got to be a first! The theatre was small and had a display window at the front which housed David's famous white jump suit and posters and album covers. All this certainly made us look forward to the show that evening even more ( if that is possible)!

The show started at 8.30pm but we arrived about 45 minutes early as we had read that there was an exhibition of the theatre owners( John Miller) own memorabilia. There were drinks in foyer, the exhibition ,commemorative t shirts for sale and free programmes were handed out. I have to say I was more than a little impressed with this theatre !

Memorabilia on display

At 8.30pm John Miller stood on stage with a huge beaming smile and introduced David as "his inspiration" and David bounded onto the stage to a huge cheer. The show was fantastic as the atmosphere in this small theatre was electric. In parts it was quite a "rocky show" as David sang Crossroads and Hush which were fantastic. During the acoustic section he talked about his friendship with John Lennon but also mentioned Yoko and how he felt she was misunderstood. I personally always like the chatter about John Lennon as I am from the North of England and so I love when David does the Liverpool accent. It was in this acoustic section he told us he was going to sing a new song, one he hadn't done for many, many years and then broke into "Doesn't Somebody want to be wanted" It was only a few lines but it was absolutely incredible to hear this live after all these years!

Terri sang "Brass in Pocket" and David played the drums, they both seemed to be having such fun with the song and gave each other a high five as they swapped places.

I Think I love You brought the house down with absolutely everyone on their feet and the feel good factor was tangible.

The screaming and chanting brought David on for an encore of Cry, which was absolutely note perfect.....impeccable !

The theatre

The show was amazing and felt like the time went much too quickly, but then I always feel like that!!
