Concert Review
Rosemont Theatre, Rosemont IL
March 28, 2009
The theatre in Rosemont is fairly large and they had covered the orchestra pit and placed chairs on this infront of the stage. We were lucky enough to be in this section, but I'm not sure it was great idea as some people were sitting right behind the barrier separating this area, I did wonder what kind of view they would have. As David was sharing the billing with Davy Jones there were a mixture of Jones' fans and David's fans in the theatre. David Jones appeared first and went down well with his own admirers, despite singing the same song more than once and telling lots of unfunny jokes. I personally don't see the attraction but each to his own!
After about a twenty minute break it was time for our David ( at last!) David ran onto the stage enthusiastically but it soon became apparant he was having a problem with the sound. They tried to fix things but then stopped and did a quick sound check, it was soon sorted and they carried on. Craig J was on the stage and so David did re-mix versions of "I'll meet you halfway", "Cherish" and "Albuquerque". Once again in the acoustic section he dedicated a new song and performed "Doesn't somebody want to be wanted". He didn't chat quite so much at this point as he sometimes does but even so it was a lovely part of the show.
As with the night before David left the stage to a huge cheer and the screaming and shouting brought him back on an encore of Cry. Well the night previous his performance of this song was impeccable but at Rosemont he raised the bar even further and hit notes I'd personally never heard before.
