Concert Review
Humane Society Charity Picnic. North Chatham, NY

What a fabulous day and fabulous concert!
We arrived a tad early but not embarrassingly early. We entered the marquee at about 10 past 11. There were loads of table and chairs set out and we made our way towards the front. The band were just finishing the sound check when we arrived. The first row was VIP tables but we got on the second row of tables. We were told this was just for the food and auction and that they would be moving stuff so we could get to the stage. It was a very low stage.
We settled down and had some snacks, then not long after that hot food was served with wine or beer if you wanted it. It was very hot outside but it was lovely inside, apart from a few flies lol Pretty soon after that they started the auction. There were a lot of items as we had seen on the list. David's items were pretty way down the list. The auctions were fun and a lot of competitive bidding was happening. They must have done pretty well. Then came David's; the first was the guitar and amp signed by DC which went for $1200, the watercolour was of the Partridge Family bus (DC driving, with Mickey the dog hanging out the back window and Bailey the bird on top of the bus)which went for $1550. The last item was a 'erm' one-of-a-kind signed poster which went for $200 then they brought out another one for $200! lol Hey it's all in a good cause.
Suddenly after the auction had ended some women moved from the tables and took their chairs to the front of the rope barrier they had now put up about 5 feet from the stage. So we did too. We were right in the front row. There were only three rows i think in the end. Other people just sat at the tables. Some VIP seats were put at the front of the barrier, which turned out to be for Sue, Jerry Balinski and his wife and a couple of others. DC was due on at 4pm but he was late. Then at about ten past 4 there was a bit of commotion and he comes riding into the tent on a horse, well we were gobsmacked!
It was great to see him on a horse. We didn't get much footage of that because it took us by surprise. David jumped off the horse and ran onto the stage. He played a fabulous concert, but.... he had hurt his hand by getting his luggage from the overhead locker on the flight and he had been travelling a long time to get there as usual lol Anyway the upshot was, he was having trouble playing the guitar. David wore sunglasses the whole time. He had on the usual pants and white shirt but he looked great. No hand holds because of being further away, but it was great.
David did usual songs, apart from when he burst into a song.well two lines of something he had just made up lol, Then he brought Garry Contessa on stage with him to play sweet little angel, unrehearsed of course, so that was another great moment.
David finished with ITILY, ran off and got onto a golf cart and was driven away to the house.
All in all a fab concert.
