To celebrate its launch in Las Vegas, Studio 54 threw a grand opening party to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation with a private performance by Elton John on Feb 15, 1998. The event raised more than $1 million for the charity with dozens of celebrity guests in attendance including "EFX" star David Cassidy.
