David and Horse Racing

David Cassidy was still playing Keith Partridge on television when he bought his first yearling in 1974 at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion in Saratoga Springs. David, a New York native went back to Saratoga every summer since.
David was shown in many news segments from Saratoga and also in a DVD made by NYBreds in conjunction with New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. as an infomercial to encourage new owners of NY Bred Thoroughbreds.

* Sweet Vendetta may be named after a LP by Adrian Gurvitz in 1979. In 1989 Adrian signed a publishing deal with Warner Cappell Music where he became a staff writer and worked with many artists including David Cassidy

Racing results

The following are some of David's successes as an owner over the past few years as noted by fans. Some years, where there is a lot of information, details of wins and pictures of the horses are on separate pages.

David has also attended international Horse Racing Events while on tour (2002 Melbourne Cup in Australia) and given a keynote address at the Racing Hall of Fame in 2005.

David presented a trophy at Gulfstream Race Track on March 22, 2008 for the Shirley Jones Breeders' Cup Handicap. This race is for thoroughbred Fillies and mares age four-years-old and up, seven furlongs on the dirt. The race is named for the racing mare, Shirley Jones, herself named for the actress Shirley Jones.

Racing in 2000

November 1, 2000. David Cassidy's LADY D'JOUR roared down the stretch to overpower a state-bred maiden field for fillies and mares, winning by three lengths under the wire.
