Actor Keanu Reeve's band Dogstar performed at the opening ceremony. At the keynote Luncheon on Thursday, May 20th, David & Sue sat on the dais with Lieutenant Gov. of Nevada, Smokey Robinson and Ahmet Ertegun (CEO of Atlantic Records) and a vice president of Motown Records. David presented the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to Smokey Robinson Smokey talked about his days with "The Miracles". Surprise guests were members of the original 50's singing grup, The Comets who performed such great hits as "Rock Around The Clock."
At the silent auction, David bid $1,000 and won the prize of airfare and two tickets to the Saratoga Races in July. AT the end of the luncheon Sue sang the song she performed last year but she didn't play the piano. David and Sue's friend, singer/songwriter Andrew Gold, was part of a panel that Sue moderated on Songwriting.
At midnight, the public gathered outside The Mirage for the group recording of "Message To The World" at the John Lennon Songwriting Bus. Sue hosted this recording. David did not attend this recording as he needed to rest up for the Golf Tournament the following morning. His son Beau and daughter Katie had fun inside the bus, fooling around and playing the instruments.
At the 2nd Annual DC Celebrity Golf Tournament held May 21, the celebrity golfers included: actor Martin Sheen, Daniel Baldwin (Alec's brother), former MTV US VJ Downtown Julie Brown, Allan Thicke, John O'Hurely (J. Peterman on Seinfeld), Wendi Jo Sperber (From "Bosum Buddies"), and members of the band No Doubt.
