David was the Guest Speaker at the 2nd Annual Gala for The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Council of Saratoga County, Inc.
Cassidy, his wife Sue, and son Beau were the special guests. He delivered an important message. David spoke about growing up as the child of an alcoholic. He eloquently shared that experience with the crowd of about 250.
What no one knew or expected came when he revealed that he himself was addicted and just finished treatment at the Betty Ford Center. His wife and son joined him on the podium and, with tears and hugs, expressed their gratitude at having been able to share their story and asked for the crowd's ongoing support. They received a standing ovation followed by many hugs and handshakes, until finally, still emotional, they said their goodbyes.
The Council is a nonprofit, community-based organization, provideing education, information and referral services on the subjects of alcohol, tobacco, other drug and violence prevention to individuals and local communities, thereby enhancing the quality of life for all citizens by diminishing the adverse effects of substance abuse and violence.

Pollstar Concert Industry Awards on Friday February 17, 2006 @ 07:00 PM
While most of the 33 awards went to behind-the-scenes players who help bring music to fans - including talent buyers, agents, venues, managers, promoters and equipment, transportation, sound, video and lighting companies - there were a few prizes for performers. The eclectic list of award presenters featured David Cassidy among many others. Some pictured below with David are Denny Laine (Founding member of The Moody Blues and Wings), Ted Nugent, Carrot Top (comedian) and Esteban (guitar virtuoso).
The awards were held on February 15th at The Theatre At Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Tickets for the event were $150.

David was one of the presenters at the Eclipse Awards dinner to honor the Thoroughbred racing Champions. David presented the award for the most outstanding Jockey. David proclaimed his love for racing and his yearning to be a more significant part of the Eclipse Awards.
"For the past 25 years, I've been breeding horses and it's been a dream of mine to be here tonight, but sadly, not giving one of these away," Cassidy said. "We live to dream, and I have dreamt of winning those big races." Read more here.

Cassidy has been a sponsor of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) in the past and he spoke about his love for horses and the racing industry and why he supports the humane treatment of racehorses.
