On November 8, 1990, David Cassidy came here to San Diego to promote his Self-Titled CD. Radio Station B-100 (Now called STAR-100) had him on there morning show "Jeff and Jerr." These two guys often do wild and crazy things and they're very popular. They had a "side-kick" called "Little Tommy," who does a lot of silly things for them. In the morning, they said they had David set to come in for an interview around 9:00 a.m. or so. They sent "Little Tommy" to wake David up at his hotel at 7:00 a.m. instead. They got David in a limo and drove him to a "Dunkin' Donuts." They gave the location for fans to go meet him there. So I hopped in my car to "Dunkin' Donuts."

David was riding on top of the limo when he arrived. He came with Donuts in his hand and yelled out "Hey, Anyone want some Donuts?" When David saw me, he immediately pointed at me and said "Hey! How are you doing?!!" It was great that he remembered me!
Local Channel 8 was there and they covered David at the Donut Shop. Towards the end of the footage you can see me looking up to David to say "Hello." David looked wonderful and was in high spirits. He signed old albums and anything fans brought to him before heading to the radio station for the interview.
I drove to the gate of the entrance to the radio station and waited to see if I could maybe get a photo with him as he left. There were two other female fans who drove in one car together.

We all listened to the interview together, which is one of the funniest and best interviews ever! They played all the songs on the album and the DJ's commented on how "mature" and wonderful the material was now. DC was planning a 2nd single and world tour at that time.
One of the gals I was with even got through for a poll they were taking on which song should be the next single. The single "Lyin' To Myself," was a top 40 hit in the US at that time, getting lots of air play on the radio stations, MTV and VH1.
When David came out in his car, we asked if we could get a photo with him. He just stuck his head out the window and said "At Tower! I'll be at Tower Records!" The other two women couldn't go to Tower as they had to go back to work, from which they were already "playing hooky." Luckily, I had taken the day off of work in advance.

I drove to Tower Records where David was signing autographs. Again, he was in great spirits and signed everything fans brought to him. He also posed for photos with any fans that wanted one. David gave lots of hand shakes, hugs and even kisses (on the cheek) to many fans that day too!
In the afternoon, B100 continued airing from Tower Records with DJ Gene Knight who was with David. When I came up to David, a reporter from our local channel 10 TV Station overheard David introducing me to a friend of his! The reporter over heard me telling David's friend that I used to run David's International Fan Club for him in the 80's. The reporter said "You used to run a club for him? I said "Yeah." He said "From where - here?! "I said yes, I live in S.D. but it was an international club and he asked if he could interview me. I said "Oh, ok" and he took me to the side, set up the cameras and interviewed me for a LONG time.
I mentioned all of David's theater work, his hits in Europe, how talented he was, etc. The last question he asked was "Is he still as good looking to you as ever?" Well, what was I going to do - lie!?

I said I thought he looked even better. The interview turned out fine and I liked the coverage except what they said before the last question about his looks: "But the IMPORTANT question has to be..." I thought it took away from the whole bit of liking him for his talent and not just his looks! Oh, well, that's life!
Copies of that taped interview have gotten around in the DC fan circle and I've heard many people say "Oh that was you!" and they all said they liked it. So I guess it was ok after-all! My "15 minutes of fame," as Andy Warhol would say - LOL! All-in-all, I think it was still a good piece. That's it until the next fan tale.
