Fan's Tales
Time With David
My husband and I were returning a car to the rental place on Tuesday night, October 12th. We were flying out of Burbank CA, to NYC. We didn't know that the car rental return was not at the airport and were frantically fighting the LA traffic, that we are not used to, to find the off site return drop off. We were in a panic, worried that we would miss our plane. Finally we found the rental drop off and there was a very attractive, sophisticated gentleman in the same predicament. He also was trying to catch the same flight. Luckily the rental place had a shuttle ready and just my husband and I and the gentleman rode it together, to the airport. Then together, we dashed with no time to spare, to security. Suddenly, without a thought, I blurted out, "Are you David Cassidy?!" to the gentleman. You can guess the answer!
During the shuttle, he mentioned that he was tired, as he had been up since 4 am. With us, he had to break a sweat to make the plane, hauling luggage, running the length of the airport to the last gate, as they announced over the loud speaker that the plane would be leaving without us, in 3 minutes. Security had put David through the mill, opening everything. The last announcement was "passenger David Cassidy has 1 minute until departure" and somehow he made it. He sat one row in front of us, across the aisle and I noted that he had the sports channel on, throughout the flight.
David was so kindly reassuring throughout our frantic dash together. He had been friendly since the beginning of our encounter. We were dressed in common miss-matched beach garb, having come from catching a few hours at the beach.I had no make-up on, sea sprayed hair and our luggage has been chewed by our pets. I was charmed that this very attractive, debonair man, smartly dressed in black casual, wearing a black LA ball cap, was so unpretentious. He was soft spoken with beautiful eyes. I was already impressed that such a man had no airs about him. Then to realize that it was David Cassidy; made the end of our rare week away, much easier to accept.
