Blood Brothers Was The Best!

David and Cat

In 1994 I went to New York to see David on Broadway in the play "Blood Brothers." His co-star was his brother Shaun. I stayed at my friend Michael's house in New Jersey. After I arrived, I waited at the outside entrance before the show. David saw me and got a big smile on his face and said "Hey, you made it!!" I said "Yeah!" and he said "I'm so glad you did!" That felt really fantastic!

The show was absolutely BRILLIANT!! It had comedy, drama and even some singing. It was just perfect for David as it got to show off all of his marvellous talents. The "chemistry" on stage between David and his brother Shaun was just incredible! Seeing and hearing them together was simply wonderful! To this day, it's still my very favorite show that David has been in.

On a different night after the show, I tried to take some photos of David but they didn't turn out very well. On yet another night my friend Michael came with me to see the show. Even though he's not a big David fan, Michael also enjoyed the show. Michael waited with me afterwards for David to come out of the back stage entrance. Shaun came first and he signed my program. It was a bit misty but not raining. As luck would have it as soon as David came out it started raining and everyone put up their umbrellas. David still signed things for fans (my program got a bit damp) and he even posed in the rain with me after another show so that my friend could take a photo of us together. Due to the umbrellas being up it was dark and the stupid flash wouldn't go off. So my camera would NOT take a picture! After a few tries, I told David "I won't keep you any longer. Thanks so much anyway!" He said "Sorry" and I said "It's not YOUR fault! Thanks for trying." Soon after he left so did the crowd. Then the camera of course, worked fine. UGH! Oh well, at least then we were able to visit "Strawberry Fields," a park made to honor the late, great, John Lennon. John was my other favorite singer (along with DC) of all time. I had Michael take a photo of me on the circle that says "Imagine," which is also my very favorite song of all time. I still have that photo framed and up next to some of my Beatles and Lennon memorabilia.

In 1995 the tour of "Blood Bros." came here to San Diego. One night my friend Helen came to see the show with me and afterwards we took pictures of each other with David. Unfortunately, the ones of David & I were not the best. As you can see here, I looked okay in one but David wasn't totally "posed" yet. The other photo is not the best of either one of us.

Luckily, I got a great photo of David with Helen and so here it is as well! Helen was thrilled at meeting him and she couldn't get over how nice he was!

I also got some home video of David with fans at the stage entrance both before and after the show. After the show, I got to have David hug me good-bye, as the show was leaving town that night, on my video tape, thanks to Mark Wycoff who was also there to see the show! Thanks Mark - you're still the BEST!! I was dressed up all "Goth" as I was going to the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" that night. I was even a cast member on some nights. I mentioned it briefly to David so that he knew why I was dressed that way with the white face and black lipstick, etc. He looked at me up and down and nodded his head up & down as in "Yes, I understand." We all said good bye and thank you as he walked across to his car. He thanked us back. Once again, I had yet another "Best of Times" seeing David in Blood Brothers!
