The Partridge Family - Season 1, Episode 1
Title: What? And Get Out Of Show Business?
First aired: September 25, 1970
Synopsis:
The Partridge Family is a comedy about a widow with five musically inclined children who are bent on a show business career.
In the first episode, the children form a vocal-instrumental group to make an audition record. When their lead girl singer, a neighbourhood friend, comes down with the measles, they need a new lead female singer. When Shirley Partridge goes into her garage to find out what all the noise is about, she discovers her children: Keith, Laurie, Danny, Chris and Tracy warming up with a song which they have collectively written. The children press their mother into singing with them and to their surprise it sounds great. The Partridge Family is born.
Danny persuades Reuben Kincaid to manage them and within weeks their song is a hit. They repaint an old school bus and go out on tour.
The Partridge Family play their first performance at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, after an introduction by Johnny Cash. The children overcome their stage fright and receive a standing ovation.
