The Partridge Family - Season 1, Episode 21 (21)
Title: Partridge Up a Pear Tree
First aired: February 19, 1971
Synopsis:
Keith has purchased his first car. Even though he looks at the car through rose colored glasses so to speak, the rest of the family can see that the car, a 1952 rusting Hudson, is a money pit that is slowly draining Keith of all his money. Keith tries to get loans from everyone but ends up turning to Danny who becomes his money manager. Keith must learn to live his life under Danny’s iron-fisted rule.
The budget is so tight Keith must take his girlfriend, Carol, to the kiddie matinee on a date with home-made popcorn. When she wants to know why, Keith evades the truth and Carol runs away upset that Keith is not being honest with her.
Keith does not have the money to take Carol to the prom, because of repairs to his car. He tries being an apprentice plumber, talks with a pitchman, and tries to deliver newspapers. These jobs don’t work out for him. He ends up owing money in the end. At the urging of his Mom he tells Carol about his money problems. Carol tells Keith that she cares about him not how much money he has or doesn’t have. Keith decides to sell the Hudson, pay off all his debts, rent a tux, and take Carol to the prom.
