The Partridge Family - Season 2, Episode 18 (43)

Title: I Am Curious . . . Partridge

First aired: January 28, 1972

Synopsis:

Laurie and Shirley berate Danny for making up stories about Keith and submitting them for publication as Danny explains he couldn’t tell the truth about his older brother because, “Let’s face it, he’s boring!”. Shirley escorts Danny to the garage to beat him up.

Laurie decides to serve her sleeping “X-rated brother” breakfast in bed along with the questionable column. She wakes up Keith who is baffled by her unusual chipper-ness towards him.

Keith discovers the problematic article and goes after Danny as the family takes turns revealing more embarrassing, made-up facts now made public.

Keith disguises himself at school enduring ridicule throughout the day (which includes garter belts and David’s famous shower scene). Upon arriving home he threatens his “red-headed hamburger” brother as Shirley tries to keep the peace…That is until Danny admits his two-part article contains more embarrassing fictitious information about her!

It’s Shirley’s turn to face ridicule involving a trench-coated milk man and an impromptu stripper-act during a PTA fashion show. Her humiliation reaches the media; Reuben is bombarded by anxious reporters.

Realizing they have a concert to perform worries Shirley and the family braces themselves behind the stage curtain for whatever is next to come from Danny’s mess. Shirley nervously keeps an eye out during their performance; to her surprise it is her own children who shock her next.

During breakfast the morning paper arrives as all the kids, except Danny, prepare to get even with him. Danny walks in and is suspiciously showered with overt kindness, triggering him to figure something must be up. Keith presents his younger brother with a fabricated article now written about him. Danny complains to his mother, who sides with the others and tells her son they can’t tell the truth about him because, “Let’s face it, your boring!” The family takes turns reading aloud insult after hilarious insult (ballet lessons!) until the doorbell rings, where lies more salt to add to Danny’s wounds as Keith hands him his piggybank forcing Danny to give away all is money. Lesson learned!
